I have a RB26DETT in my 240 using mckinney mounts and had no problems I thought... I just did all my headwork (pics comming when I figure out how) and was preparing the block to reacomodate the head when I thought I would make sure the mounts were tight and found out that the mounts threads on both sides were completely stripped out and the engine was just sitting in place by gravity.

NOT TRYING TO DISS MCKINNEY MOUNTS but I hope this doesnt happen to all the other rb 240 owners and I know Mack uses this forum. I already fixed the problem but I wanted to give alittle heads up and maby so Mack might look into it so this doesnt happen to all of you using his mounts.

Thanx GODSILVIA for the info. Is there any way you can call us to explain what is wrong with the part and can we get the part back??

I would like to look at this part and see if it is a one time thing or it can happen to more parts. If it can happen to someone else I would like to be able to recall the item and replace the part so that it dosen't happen to anyone else.

We stand behind our products and we want to provide the best products we can to everyone. If anyone finds ANY issues please contact us like GODSILVIA did. This way we can make improvments to our products.

Again thank you for finding this issue and I hope you do not have any more issues.

Mack, you're a good guy. Mckinney has treated me good when I purchased things from them and I dont want anyone on the forum to think I'm nockin your mounts.

Sorry I'v been so buisy lately getting my motor back together but I will send you the mounts and you can see for yourself what the problem is. If it were my choice for change I would change the threads of the mounts to a finer pitched thread because theres more strong bite involved I'v learned in my days of metric and standart thraeads. For me the finer threads could hold a lot more torque. But again its just a suggestion.

Just for feedback I would vote for stiffer polyurathane because the rb's are such a tight fit when you go mountain passing the engine tends to rub when you get motor mount flex. Plus I wouldnt worry about engine vibration because the rb's have such a tiny stroke compared to other motors even super stiff mounts won't send much vibration through the car.

yeah I would personally want stiffer mounts if I had the choice, but I do understand you have to accomodate everyone.

So was it just the threads stripped. I have had the mounts in mine since march and no probs yet. And was it becuase of torqueing them of from driving the car. Would like to know more if possible so I can give mine a look.

Can you send me the mount that had a problem?? The newest mount are fine thread. We will send you a set if you give us your address. Its possible that you have a early set.. We can supply a urethane trans mount for under $30.00, but the cost of doing the engine mouunt is 5K up front and 1000 sets first order.. If we get to the point where its cost effective we will make them.. Everyone input is welcome on updates and changes. We will listen to all and use what ever we can..

so to make a solid urethane mount would cost you alot??? so in turn cost us alot, that sucks. I want the solid mounts because the more engine movement the more likely you are going ot break something in your drive line, but the urethane transmission mount will help alot. What are they made out of right now???

When I get mine back Im going to put them away for a while because Im running solid inserts that I made and they seem to be doing the job well. Maby Im having engine rubbing when I mountain pass because I put the rb26 in which is a tighter fit in certain sopts like the turbo area.
