ok, today i poped the hood to show my friend my new s14 engine, and then i realized where the hell is my intake filter?( its one of those cone types) i found it laying on the side. i could literally see down my intake tube... : (

i back track thru my day wondering if i felt anything weird while driving, and i did notice one time it reved real slow. hmm.

ok so my question is is my engine done with or is it not a big deal? (BTW it is replaced)

DONT EVER BUY EBAY INTAKE CRAP UNLESS ITS A REPUTED BRAND LIKE APEX INJEN HKS ect.

Hahaha, you're so much luckier then my buddy, in 2 years time, he went through 2 SR20DET's, 2 cars, 3 turbos, and 1 turbo rebuild. His intake filter fell off and something fell in it. Busted up the compressor turbine. Why did he go through so much? Well, he like to do half decent jobs when it comes to his car. One time he even tighten his oil drain plug with his hands. Go figure.

Oh, is your engine a S14 SR20DET or is it a S14 KA24DE... either way, air filter falling off shouldn't cause any damages. If left off for more then a couple of days where things can really start flying into the intake then it might be a different story.

Unfiltered air isn't the best thing for an engine, but it wont destroy it after a short time unless something big got in there, which you would have already know about. You should be fine, just keep it from happening again.
