Broken intake camshaft

I recently purchased a 1994 Q45 that was running rough. Being a mechanic, I thought not a big deal. I figured for $500, I could tune it up and it would be great. I traced the problem to the passenger side intake camshaft broke in the second cam cap. The rear three cylinders weren't getting any air and fuel.Has anyone heard of this on these cars?

Also, if you know of anyone that has an intake cam for sale, I need one.

Never, even upon chain guide failure.

What color are the insides?

The insides of the engine are brown but I don't see any sludge or residue gunk buildup.
