first off i had already posted this in general without thinking.. so im reposting it here..so my bad...but here

alright.. well heres the story...ok well i had just bought my other 240 2 days ago, this one is a 91 se model....149k miles..5 speed..everything apperantly worked fine....so last night.. at like 3 in the morning i went out for some jack in the box... while i was in the drive thru i was cold and tryed to turn on the heater...i found out the heat does not work..just blows cold air....so i was like..hmm that sucks but oh well... but left the switch on.didnt think nothin of it... go home.. go to sleep ..whatever... then i wake up in the morning reverse my car about 20 feet and was talking to some while i was in my car ...it was on in neutral... so i decide to just park... pull in and looked back and noticed anti freeze was all over the place..so of course i was like..WTF!..checked under my car.. was still dripping but not horrible..just your basic drip drip drip..so i was almost sh*ting my pants by then... so i turned the car back on and watched the temp... stayed normal...reved it... still was good..so i was like... lemme go get some smokes and watch the temp..(also i checked the fluids..was at a good level..) so i called a bunch of people trying to find out waht might be wrong...but then i got to the store.. about a half a mile away...so i accidently over rev'd it from 2nd to third... then i noticed my temp shot all the way up!.. so of course.. i said F*CK!.. pulled over at the liquer store lifted my hood and check around... a small amount of steam came from the fan area.. but quickly went away.. so i let the car chill out got some cigs and went back to it... called some more people... and just watched it drip a lil more..THEN...it stopped dripping....wtf..turned the car on.. and temp was normal...let it idle for 10 mins..after the drip stopped...took it around the block a few times ...still temp was regular.. drove it home...still was fine....then i noticed the engine light was on...i went inside and had a cig and a bite to eat...went back out... turned on the car... engine light was off?... no more drip..? and temp was regular... so i hoped in and drove it some more...drove it low speeds.. drove it at high speeds... nothing else happend...so ive been driving it around all day and all night... no problems what so ever...so i have no idea waht happend... .(and in addition since the post..) it happend again today....i woke up check my fluids..my coolent reserve tank was empty but there was no dripping on the floor.. so i filled it up and drove around watching it... over heated twice.. but after i turn it back on and let it idle the temp quikly drops..it did it on my way home from trying to go kragens..but after the second time it did it.. it never did it again since then... so any info or tips to hold me off till i get what i need to fix it..

That was an entertaining read but very thorough..lol

You may have a water pump leaking. Allowing the fluid level to drop in your engine. This would cause both the cold air from the heater and the overheat condition your suffering. You need to blead the systewm of any air pocket. Best way to do that is use a bleader funnel. Then get a pressure tester on it and try to locate the source of the leak. By the way it comes and goes I am suspicious of your water pump.Look for traces of fluid coming out of the weep hole on the bottom side of the snout.

i think we figured out most of it right?

coolant's leaking out of the weephole telling you the waterpump is on it's way out. the smoke came out of the front of the engine bay next to the fan which is right where the waterpump is located (attached to the pulley above the crank and next to the alternator).

you probably just need a new waterpump...
