I was doing some work underneath the car and found a broken ground wire. Unfortunately, the part of the wire that I see is the part that is still connected to the body. I have no idea where it goes or what it is for. Can anybody tell me where it goes and what it is for?

BTW, it's a 91 240sx (if that helps).

where is the grounding point located under the car? Knowing that will make it easier for someone familiar with the s13 chassis to help you.

It's near the catalytic converter.

The ground strap is for the oxygen sensor to work properly. Grounding some o2 sensors through the restof the exhaust and through the motor sometimes doesn't let the sensor give out the correct reading so a ground from exhaust to chassis is installed.

OK, thanks. I'll have to climb under there and reconnect it.

Is there a site where I can find out how many and where all the grounds are located so that I can check them? I'm having alot of minor electrical issues. Are they in the FSMs?

FYI, my ground strap is hanging disconnected exactly the same way. Kinda surprizing it's for the 02 sensor and I've been passing smog for the last few years :)

With the stock manifold its usually not that big of a deal but on cheap stainless manifolds it cam be a BIG issue. This is why some switch to a 4 wire o2 with aftermarket manifolds on obd2 vehicles because if not, it trips the check engine light for o2 sensor or fuel trim.
