As if the soft paint weren't enough of an issue, now I have a cracked fog light lens. I can't believe they're made out of plain glass instead of the impact resistant plastic they use over the headlights.

Anyway:

1. What section of the FSM will I find the R&R procedure in? It's not in EXT, and I don't see a section specific to the lights.

2. Who are the good vendors to check out for this? It appears that you have to buy the whole assembly, can't get just a lens.

I'll definitely be doing HeadlightArmor over them when I get this replaced.

not sure about where it is in the fsm, but you're correct about this^
looked up in FAST and there's no part number for just the lens, gotta get the whole assembly
part number is 26150-8993B and is listed for $126.80 on infinitipartsusa. not sure if it will be cheaper anywhere else.

You have to look closely at EXT in the FSM to see the fog lights referenced in the front bumper section. After reading the R&R procedure and considering the price of the part, I'm considering just hiding it with the dark smoke HeadlightArmor overlays. Going to check with the dealer first on the long shot that they'll cover it under warranty or goodwill.

the price for a fog light assembly is ridiculus... i found out after i hit a tire tread on the highway... hopefully its a warranty fix... if all else fails and you not afriad to work on your car, buy the part and install your self. I'm sure the dealer will charge at least 2 hours for the job, so like $200 in labor... smh

Yeah, that's what I had guessed after looking at the shop manual. But I just had a service advisor look at it, and he says ~$210 for the part including tax, but only $55 labor. But it's considered damage, not warranty. I'm not sure it's worth it to try to keep the appearance of the car up, as bad as the paint is. I figure I'm going to get whacked on cosmetics at trade time no matter what.

That's one thing I hated about my Maxima was the low fog light glass would crack and eventually break. What I found out is most of the issue was caused by the heat from the halogen bulbs. The glass would heat up and if you got it wet it would eventually crack and lead to failure. I replaced the fog lights on my Maxima three times. The third time I retrofitted them with HID instead of halogen and they never broke again.

That's a good argument for a retrofit, Matt. I'd have argued with the service advisor about the lens being a warranty issue from spontaneous breaking if you couldn't clearly see the hole where the rock/whatever hit it.

Did it have just a hole or did it have a hole and crack? I had that happen to mine where the rock hit a hairline crack and it looked like someone shot it with a BB.

It has a hole and cracks, but most of the cracks radiate from the hole, so I expect to lose that argument.

Red Det, thanks for the pricing offer, but I'm too old and affluent to be doing a bumper R&R myself. I'm going to swallow hard and pay the dealer.
