So I opened up my driver's door the other day and my handle popped off. I want to get it fixed but I am having a little bit of a hard time justifying 98 bucks+parts to do so.

Has anyone on here had a similar problem? Did you fix it yourself? Anything to look out for, etc?

I have a white '06 Versa with 55K, btw.

How can you justify not having a door handle

Hopefully someone will come along that can say if this is a common problem on the Versa... If you're up to a DIY repair, you can get a discount on the parts from http://www.everythingnissan.com

I have a 2007 Versa with manual doors and locks. I have noticed that the driver's handle is getting hard to turn. My car has 124,000 miles, so I think your handle mechanism was defective.

I thought the Versa started in '07? when the new gen of the Sentra started. o.O

As for the door handle, you should look into it more. I know the Rogue had a recall on their door handles falling off in colder weather.

Yes I believe the first MODEL year was 2007, but he probably meant he purchased it in 2006.

Yeah, my Versa has 37k & the interior door handle won't open the door - it's manual, as is the window - I have to roll down the window (manual) to let myself out. The dealership is disappointing to deal with - $350--it seems something popped off and they're wanting to replace the entire "kit" - this is my 4th and last nissan - the last one literally blew its brains at 36k - the electrical had gone at 12k on that one. Oh, and I've complained about the bearing boot for 15k and they just now see something wrong - $1k in one day - I don't think so - I had loved my first nissan, and thought this versa was a good one---the second sentra not so much. just waiting for our 2010 to go down. wth...
