Hello,
I have a 1994 Q45 and there is a connector that plugs into my throttle body that was broken when I bought the car this last year. I have been holding it on with electric tape but that seems to slip off from time to time and I suspect that is why I sometimes after it has been on for a while get a check engine light but when I read the codes there is no code on code 55. After pulling it, cleaning it and reapplying the tape I don't get the CE light for a while then days or weeks later after it has been on for a while it will come on again.

Here are a couple of pictures of the part I am trying to locate. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

~M

Wire-tie it or glue/silicon it on after cleaning it well.

Thats the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) sensor connector for the closed throttle and and Wide Open Throttle. Its most definitely needed.

The connector is similar to the MAF sensor connector so call up Infiniti Of Scottsdale and see if they can get you one. It should be ~$30 for the parts. Bad part is you have to splice it in because there is no easy way to remove the pins from the connector. Good part is if you plan to sell the car at Barret Jackson or other restored old vehicles you will need a new main engine harness.

Ditto on the cable tie suggestion... One around the back end of the connector and another through that cable tie and around the entire sensor. Or you could look for an undamaged connector from a pull-a-part junk yard. They usually get snipped pretty quickly by the scavengers buying the throttle body to use on project cars.

I would not bother with trying to splice in a new connector, its not really that big of a deal... Besides, part of the connector is only broken so electrically it will still work fine, as the pins dont look damaged.. Like they said, just zip tie it or tape it or something... Youll want to make it removable because if you glue it on you wont be able to take the TB off without removing the TPS, which is usually not a good idea!

If it were the more critical sensor part of the TPS and not just the on/off throttle switch, then I would be a little more concerned.

i am going through the same issue on my lexus. i had a lot of brittle connectors that broke during maintenance and will need replacing by my standards. it may be different for nissan, although i don't see why it would be, but you can buy just the plastic connector housings from toyota. de/repinning isn't very complicated and there are speciallty tools to make it even easier.
