Ok so I WAS almost done with my headgasket swap, I was tightening down the last cam on the #8 bolt and snap. Broken. Ok so I got a titanium bolt extractor and that snapped as well. So I have a right turn bolt broken and a left turn extractor broken inside my head.

So, what do I do now?

you sir have a problem!main question would be if you have some long thin needle nosed pliers?try getting out the bolt extractor with that. to get the bolt out try getting a reverse drill bit (should find at a store where you bought the bolt extractor) reverse drill the center of the bolt, then get some wd-40 or any other lubricant down there and try the extractor again.

funny, something like this happened when i did a headgasket, 1 of the cam cap bolts broke inside, tried reverse drill bits, anything you could use for that.

ended drilling the whole thing in(as in drilling the broken piece), and putting a helicoil in there, that lasted probably 6000 miles till the engine got rod knock.

Yeah I gave up on the head itself. Here is a post I wrote on our local forum.

Another day of failure on Saturday: (long)

1. 27 Dollars of drill bits did nothing to the broken extractor/original bolt. 2. Went to Tim's house to get free head but exhaust mani head stud was broken off into head. (I'm not ****ing with that after what I've gone through already.)3. Went to Alan's house to get free head. a. We took off an S14 head and it looked perfect! Until I turned the head over to look at the bottom. It literally had a chunk of the head missing near the valves from the blown headgasket. ( I love how strong KA's are cause it ran perfectly fine except it overheated.) b. We took off an S13 head and it looked like it will work. The bad is that the piston hit the head when it exploded. c. The S13 head came with a free exhaust manfiold stud broken inside the head. I was about to cry when Alan came through and got that ****er out. The Process of how he got it out just goes to show how much I do not know about cars/metalworking. It was like a cake walk for him. I probably would have not gotten it out. 4. After getting home and going to Ryan's, We had a (drunk/idiot/duno) guy that just mosied on over into Tony's lane with no turn signal and no headlights on. Tony had to do an evasive maneuvour to save the day. Then Tony's car decided it wanted some of Paul's bad luck and it suddenly started acting up. There seems to be an electrical/charging issue. Either way we pushed his car about 5 times that night including down Georgia Avenue. Haha. Oh yeah Paul's gay *** decided he was just going to leave us while we were stranded trying to figure what to do. 5. We get the car running and got to within 5 blocks of Paul's house then it just totally cuts off for good. Paul came over and we tried to tow start the car with this minature rope because it was on this rediculous hill. The rope held but Tony's car did not crank. We then towed the car all the way to Paul's with that same rope while I proceeded to throw some of Paul's trash out on Tony's car while he could do nothing about it. 6. Finally call it a night take Tony home and go to my place and get to within the U turn and realize I don't have my keys. My keys were in Paul's escort, thats all I got to say as to why I didn't have my keys.

That was the icing on the FAIL CAKE!

-Gabe.
