Hello,

So to keep it short, I will leave the useless details out.

There is this piece broken which holds the alternator in place from the top. Now, I cant find the place where the other end bolts on to the body or engine.

My dad went to the dealer, and the dealer wasnt sure either even by viewing the diagram on the computer.

He guessed that the cover (which goes over the timing chain) needs to be replaced since its part of the bracket which holds the alternator in place. He quoted around $1700 for parts and labor.

Now my question is, can you guys tell me what it is? Is it really a part of the cover (God I hope it isnt)? Or is it a separate part?

I am attaching two pics. I know they are big (sorry ), but will make it clear to identify.

Also the part number of the broken piece is: 11715. Its under the heading: ALTERNATOR FITTING.

I got the printout of the diagram from the dealer.

Please help me.

Do you still have the old bracket? I'm probably looking at the same diagram your parts guy showed you... looks like the brakcet bolts on to a hole on the timing cover. If the hole is still there and the bracket is broken - you should be able to replace the bracket only... otherwise I guess it's cover time. I would call Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale and see what he has to say. 1-888-216-5328

Good luck!
