Yeah, today was not a very good day. I was driving over to my friends house, I was right behind him. We were on one of those rural roads that don't have lines and is barely wide enough for 2 normal cars to pass each other. All of a sudden from around a curve, an expedition towing one of those huge trailers with lawn equipment came around in the middle of the road. I had nowhere else to go, so I went as close as physically possible to the side of the road, and of course here comes this HUGE pothole. It looked like a bomb fell on the side of the road, this thing was at least 10" deep. I smashed through it pissed as hell at this guy and then my tire started flapping so I pulled into my friends house and got the wheel off to find out that it nearly broke the rim in half! My friend, who also swerved, only nicked this hole and it caused a bunch of his plastic lug covers to pop off. So, I am in the market for one of these if anyone needs to get rid of one. It is an ADR Design wheel, 17x7 (see pics below). Will accept any reasonable offer.

Forged would have been a better bet, and I've also destroyed and bent wheels from pot hole damage. Get the car on an alignment rack and have a tech go over every control arm, checking for stress cracks or bends. Also, get a close inspection of teh wheel studs. That's a lot of stress, and when considering the wheels are not hub-centric, all that force also acted on JUST the wheel studs.

that is a good idea. i will probably have to have the new wheel balanced and have an alignment anyway, so I will get that done then. thanks for the heads-up.

I think the tire was the only thing holding the wheel together, I bet when I take that off it will come apart.

I am thinking about trying to get some money from the city for neglegence. This pothole is a freaking menance. But I have been talking with friends and most of them think I havn't got a case.

wow, yeah ADR wheels suck tho man...not to rag (i used to roll ADR) they're just not good wheels...i went to BBS cuz i nkow they're much stronger then ARD crud...i'd suggest looking into new wheels...if you're not in a great spot money wise, look into a similar size 5zigen wheel...possibly 17x8 (so tires are reuseable)they're better size (offset and width) and for a cast wheel, i hear they're very strong

and definately take the advice to sue the county/city you live in...it's negligence on their part
