hey everyone

i was installing the fylwheel on my new engine and it slipped, shearing off the little alignment pin head (i suppose its that)

is this lil pin important? it doesnt seem to serve any purpose besides alignment.

thanksMarko

You need to remove all the alignment pins or get a new one and remove the old one somehow.

That will be just fine if you do one or the other. I would not just leave it as is...

align the clutch/pressure plate

Its only a helpful device. not a needed device.

i seeee.. well im just moving the clutch/flywheel over from my old motor so i hopefully wont be needing to align it. this motor is not permanent either, just using it until i get my other one rebuilt.

also, where would i get a replacement pin thingie? in case i need to put a new one in

thanksMarko

no, we are not on the same page.

I thought you were talking about something on the face of the flywheel... I am not sure if you can replace that part...

ah.. well then good thing i took a pic hehe.. yea the thing is that thing is not even seen after the clutch goes on, so i cant see any use for it besides making sure that the flywheel goes on only one way for some reason

okMarko

Yeah, Nissan does weight the flywheel at the factory, so maybe it might affect the rotating mass a little bit... you may need another flywheel to be safe...

the flywheel is fine.. nothing wrong with it, and getting a new one wouldnt make any difference with that broken pin anyway i think
