Did my first shock in while doing a bit of trail blazing on my buddies property last week. The lower mounting eye snapped clear off the already tired OEM shock body. The break caused a breech in the casing allowing all the contents to escape. I heard some noises under the truck while this was going on but then again the truck has always made noises while driving so I wasn't alarmed by them. Last night I decided to put the truck up on the alignment rack at work to do a general check over and that's when I discovered the left rear shock broken into 2 pieces. I'll get some pics when I have daylight. The old shocks must be OEM from 2002 and this must be the first new set on it in 9 years, they look 9 years old all rusty and flaking apart. So I replaced the rears with a set from Autopart Intl. VSV shocks, they are twin tube but that doesn't bother me, this is a daily driver truck and I need a comfortable ride and nothing too expensive (that's for the green truck) plus I'm not a professional trailblazer. The ride is vastly improved over what I had going on yesterday with a much smoother ride with better response. Moral of the story, don't neglect your shocks.
