2005 Q, service engine soon, VDC, SLIP lights on. Car starts and goes into gears but gas pedal has no effect. If I press it to the floor engine only slightly goes to 1900-2000 rpms. If I put in drive, car only pulls at idle speed and gas pedal has zero effect. I do hear the a/C compressor kick off when I press the pedal to the floor so I know the pedal is telling the ECU it's being pressed.. I've got the negative side cable disconnected to try and reset the ECU right?? Any help with ideas or solution would be greatly appreciated-

Low brake fluid due to a leak or worn pads. Check the level
or Faulty ABS/wheel speed sensor
or Malfunctioning ABS module (rare in these cars)
- I'd check the fluid level first, since that one is free... then maybe head to the dealer for a diagnosis with the tool.

Since you have a check engine light as well, I'd recommend pulling those codes. Some people have also reported the camshaft/crankshaft sensor triggering the light. Typically these 2 come with starting issues or the vehicle randomly dying, but it's worth checking.

EDIT:
Oh, another possibility is a bad brake switch under your pedal. One tell-tale is the brake light staying on, but it might have other intermittent issues that are limiting your RPM.

Reading that CEL would be helpful. You can buy a cheap OBDII scan tool that links via bluetooth to a smart phone/tablet. Have you done anything to the throttle body lately (like clean it)? Anything else done under the hood lately?

Thanks for the replies, I had to replace a 700$ part/piece that had something to do with drive by wire.. the engine was getting no signal from the gas pedal.. crazy.. I'm listing the car for sale. Parts are hard to come by and I just don't feel like this car was "finished" when it was released. I really miss my Lexus LS. My Q is beautiful pearl white and looks new.. I've enjoyed the monster power since you never have to press it more than half way! Hopefully someone will know what it is..

Damn! I hope your feelings about the car change in the morning. So it needed the throttle body replaced? Or is this the accelerator pedal issue? Because the latter was a recall iirc.

It's true, parts are hard to come by cheap, but again they don't break often. If you've made up your mind to sell, let us know where you are located and maybe post up a few pictures of it. Maybe one of us could jump on it

It was the plug that goes into the throttle body. Infiniti said everything else checked good. I paid 130$ for a full bumper to bumper inspection and mechanic test drive. They said I am lucky the previous owner was so meticulous. There's not even the beginning of varnish from the oil in the motor. I think the gas pedal recall was on 2002 models. The only recall 05 and 06 models got was a side airbag module and the LED taillights didn't meet Federal requirements so the were replaced with a different LED set .. I've got michelines on it and it's not in need of anything. I have tried to figure out how to post pics here but had no luck. I'm going to try one more thing-

I think it looks good from this distance. Any interior pictures? Some of the last model year q45s had some rust issues, especially the rear wheel arches.

Looks good, but with the sudden appearance of oil consumption issues...

It's a mystery to me honestly. I drove it the first 2500 miles and never added any. A thousand miles later it's showing halfway between low and high. I can't seem to figure the timing of the blue smoke when I start it. There's no pattern it either does or doesn't. Either way it's not a lot. I am comfortable with it after Infinitis inspection. They said it's been well maintained. I've scheduled a full tune up and all fluids exchange next week for 964$

Did the blue smoke start after the Lucas additive? Where is your oil on the stick now? Half way down should equal 1/2 quart... if you're overfilled, maybe that's some of the issue?

Yes it started after the Lucas. I'll have to check in the a.m. that explains the blue smoke then if it's half a quart when the stick reads halfway.. I put a whole quart in it. So I overfilled it. Did that damage anything?
