Went to install the power brace and I got all the stock stuff off real quick, like it only took a half hour. The power brace fit perfectly into the places that the stock brackets fit into just like it was made for my car!!! (which it was)

Then i get all the bolts and nuts in place and snug them up to begin tourqing them up to spec. The last two middle nuts up under the tie rod bearings went in okay, but when using the wrench i gat the drivers side bolt up to 80 ft-lbs. (spec'd at 80-93) and the DAMN THING BREAKS RIGHT AT THE HEAD STUCK UP INTO THE FRAME!!!

How much is a screw extraction going to be? I dont have the tools to do it and im sure as hell not going to try it myself and fudge up the existing threads.

I just found out that NISMO included the wrong torque specs for the power brace. It said 80-93 ft lbs when the FSM said 29-36 ft lbs!!!

What a f*ing crock of sh it! I should call and compain about that crap...

SO i learned today that you ALWAYS trust the FSM over any crap even if its made by a nissan exclusive aftermarket company.:angryfire

Oh yeah, the torque specs included with the S13 brace were from the S15!?!

I replied in the other thread. Question: Is the brace the same part for the S13 and the S15? Wondering how the 2 could have such different-sized fasteners and still work with the same brace.

i took a good long look at the instructions in the kit.

They must have sent the wrong instructions with the brace cause the parts are slightly different in the picture, i wish i had a scanner so i could show you.

I had the broken bolt pulled today, and it cost me $65, not bad but still had to tack it on to the cost of the brace, costing too much anyway.

I didn't even get directions with my NPB, which was probably a good thing reading your story...

I just went with the FSM torque specs. I stripped the crap out of one of the swaybar bolts, but I don't anticipate having to take it back out anytime soon. At least I hope, or I'm screwed.

yeah i had the guy replace all the bolts in this thing with tempered black ones, high tensile strength.

By the way, what an improvement! I said this on the other thread, but man, the front end is super tight now! I bet my chassis is perfectly parallel now when i make a turn.

Sucks to strip or break a bolt. This morning I was adjusting my HKS wastegate actuator to 14psi and I stripped out the hole where the actuator bracket bolts to the conpressor housing. I wasn't even torquing on it or anything. It looks like it should be o.k. with the one bolt but it stilled pissed me off.

Seriously, it was prob more work to install the NPB than it will be to get the broken bolt out. I mean, you just but the bit in a drill, and then you use it. The drill does the work for you. No one is THAT lazy. ;)

If you ARE, any machine shop can do it for you.

Its already done!?!

Its plenty of good feeling knowing that i didnt drill the bolt incorrectly or fuxor anything up too bad and only had to pay $65 to get it done...

I am happy cause drifting is a little easier now with the front being so tight, even on dry pavement.:):)

Believe it or not, I actually managed to break an EZ-out inside a broken head bolt once. Don't know if the bit was weak, or if I just overtorqued the drill, or what...but *snap*!

The obscenities that came from my mouth nearly stripped the paint off the car.

black bolts are no stronger than normal steel bolts, its just black oxide coating... does nothing but look good.
