OK epic fail...
after doing what everyone suggested I tightened the ALT belt pulley with a breaker bar till the squeal would disappear...

ended up over doing it and broke the tensioner screw...see pics
and after all that the belt squeal is still there....ARGH...maybe it was the PS belt (I meant AC belt)?

well the screw is still there but broke the head...

Is this something I can fix myself? or do I have to go to a mechanic to take the broken bolt out and install a new screw???

Where can I buy this screw???? I need help... I guess I underestimated my hulkish strength....

I'm not sure you need a breaker bar. Are there still threads sticking out you could grab with a pair of vise grips?

I think I'd order up the right bolt from Nissan before I started messing with it. A) It's not clear it's a standard bolt. It may have some funny tip on it. Maybe somebody here can shed light on it. B) if you loosen it without a handy replacement, you have an undriveable PF.

If there's enough sticking out to grab with vise grips, you don't need an EZ out.

I'd put a just a little grease on the threads of the bolt.

Are belts due? If not don't bother. If yes, they are DIY.

Did you loosen the bolt in the middle of the pulley before tightening the tensioner screw?

The belts aren't due as last inspected a year ago...a OK as per inspection from Nissan dealershp when I had my corrosion check.....

I guess I'll just hold off and deal with the squeal till after winter.....THANkS!!

Well, that's why it broke. I've done a few like that over the years.

I'd go ahead, get the new bolt, and fix it, and adjust the tension. My experience is that the squeal is worse in cold
weather, and a lot more of a pain to fix in the cold. Fix it while the weather is nice.

Looks like I need to take off the bracket as per diagram to insert the new bolt. 3 bolts
Does anyone have experience with this?
Also is there a tension release on the belt?
Haven't changed it yet as its working fine....
