broke a rod?

can anyone here describe what i would see/hear if i broke a rod or something of that nature in my engine?

Howabout you describe the sound and we'll take guess at what it is, instead of working backwards.And typically a broken rod exits the block in a rather spectacular fashion (big fvcking hole), and that block will never run again.

ok sounds good....when i try to start the car its sounds like an engine knock...kind of like popping sound...but not like it will start...this happened i was doing 60 mph and i hear "pop,pop,pop...grrrrrr" like a grinding sound...it wasnt the transmission it was deff from the engine block...any help?
