Well I was on the interstate next to a saab... Then i missed a shift becuase of the crappy motor mounts and with the 6 puck clutch and light flywheel the motor instantly went off the end of the tach...

The damage looks to be number 3 rocker arm broken on the exhaust side. Both of those valves must have been hit by the piston becuase they are stuck up in the head. Hopefully the piston didn't crack. It killed the cam as well.

I'll have to get a new cam... Probilby a couple HKS cams, Vavle springs, 2 valves, retainers exc exc.... Looks like i'm not going to have any choice but to bulletproof the head. Oah well... 8000 RPM here i come!

There is no way rocker arm stopers would have prevented this either... The rocker arm totally snapped in half...

Oah yah... stock redline is 7,500. You don't need RAS for that. My tach pegged. It was probibly up around 10000. I was at the redline in third (7,500) and dropped it back to second and dumped the clutch hard.

Well the part number for the rocker arm is 13257-53J03. You can see if Nissan can get them, they should be in G20 SR's.

Or you could build your head with solid lifters, since if you get solid lifters you need seperate solid cams.

Thanks for the part number! The car shouldn't be off the road more than a month. I think i'm going to keep the Hydraulic lifters. I can't afford to do much more than springs and cams and everything. We'll see though.

that sucks dude i love you car, i think i heard about your car on Nolarides. sorry about the tragedy. Unfortunately i've had the same EXACT problem happened to me about 2 months ago, over revved.....messed up ALL of my exhaust valve guides, had to get a new head. IT was a nightmare man.

BTW the mechanic that rebuild my new head (the job was wayy out of my league) lives in Lafayette and is a nissan specialist, he did an awesome job on my car. If you want his info let me know, my AIm is RPS13Freak

10k will definitely do it

i heard ras's are useless. if it flies off, you just put it back on and if it cracks you're screwed anyways.

good luck getting it running even better than before.

Well i took the head off today. Guess what! I don't even need new pistons!!!

I'm so stoked! I am going to need new valve guides but only for 1 cylinder. (I might do them all i'm not sure)

This is a huge *** relief! There were only about 3 nicks in the top of the piston and they are right on the beefiest part of the pisont. (Not like my dads galant. When the valves hit it they hit right at the edge.)

Sooooo.... Looks like i might wait 2 weeks and get cams, and springs. 8,500 RPM Here I come!!

If you plan on keeping the hydro lifters, I dont think you'll get that 8500 redline safely too often. I have a totally rebuilt head with new guides, stainless valves etc and at 8100 rpm, the rocker broke in half. I think because the lifter didnt help pivot the rocker arm fast enough before the cam slammed into it. The cam broke in half right at the spot where the rocker broke. I am moving to solid lifters on my SR22 motor waiting to drop in and will stare 9k rpm in the face.

Did you have springs and titanium retainers?

i saw one guy just pulled the pistons out of his hla's and shimmed them with pieces of feeler gauge. blam, instant solid pivots.
