The VSD will display the speedo and any other gauge attached to the Defi link controller in metric or imperial. Which is pretty killer since all of my gauges are metric, but can read them in imperial on the HUD.KFL wrote:Very very nice slick setup!Quick question the vsd x displays in mph?
Under the hood I have a S15 SR20 w/6 speed.1unar3clipse wrote:What kind of engine do you have under the hood? How much did it cost you to do this? and was it really so hard to wire up your own custom gauges in the dash position as my mechanic said it would be?
but man gotta hand it to you, that **** is sick.
Are you suggesting that I do that!?! If so, they are already angled. Just look closer at the pic.180sxfaktory wrote:Most excellent! The gauges in what used to be the vent... Get some PVC piping with same ID as the gauge, cut 25-30 degree wedges and use epoxy or hysol to make a a cluster that is raked towards you so that you canvisually see accurate readings without too much head movement. Finish the cluster after shaping and sanding with a nice primer and paint. Other than that, that dash cluster is just fantastic!

I got the HUD from my distributor. They run about $399 shipped to you. Price may have gone down now that it's been out for a little bit. They are still hard to find though. I did see one on ebay a few weeks back though.p1rat3 wrote:
where did you get that?
Your car is so nice man keep making more things for us to awe about
It is super easy to see in all lighting conditions...... even direct light. It has 5 levels of dimming.... during the day I run the highest level and at night I dim it all the way down. It also has a auto light sensor, which I did not use, so it will adjust on it's own. However, I like things in my control and I would have had to find a place to mount it. So I just do it manually. The sensor is actually pictured along side of it in the stock picture I posted of the HUD. Angle doesn't matter at all. If you were to look through the side window at it you would be able to see it just easy. However, the edge would be cut off a little.breadbox wrote:I must say, That is one of the nicest setups i have ever seen.
Is the digital display easy to see from somewhat of an angle or do you have to look dead on?
Also is it easy to see during the day?
What about if light is hitting it somewhat directly?
I did a 80mm boost gauge because I needed another 80mm gauge to be symmetric with the 80mm tach. Once you get into the 80mm Defi's you don't exactly have a lot to choose from. You get to choose from tach and boost. I am surprised some have a problem with it.RB20DETodd wrote:alot of money there looks good boost gague a little too huge imo but not my whip
