well i just go 12' subs which i dont know what they are but its a circle as their symbol but whatever and i got a cheap amp 2 channel. ok going to the point. When i hook the 2 channel amp to the subs they stop working and they do a heart beat thump but thats all so i have a question do i need to have a different amp or could it be a head unit?

What impedance are the subs? dvc or single voice coil? What do you mean they stop working? Does the amp stay on or does the amp shut off? DOes it go into "protect mode" "thermal" Anything such as that on the indicator lights?

Yeah, answer Zerepdivad's questions and we can go from there. You may also have a bad RCA cable/end.

zomg

amp model?

sub model?

does the amp stay on or turn off or go into protect? (i know you said it stays on but it's easy to confuse on and protectmode)

do you know how to check if the RCAs are giving you a signal?

do you know how to use a DMM?

post pics of your setup and the way you have it hooked up including the amp to subwoofer connections.

perhaps post a video of the problem online for us to see? i assume what you are saying is the subs bump once and then shut off right when you turn them on right? i assume your amp is going right into protect mode and you should not have a 'turn on thump'.

answer the questions and then we can help you...

Like an oscillation, a repetative bumping? Or is it a single thunk?

So you used the preamp outs on your A/V receiver, ran the RCA's to your car's amp and it still didn't work even after switching RCA cables?
