British Borg Warner transmission complete rebuild kit!

The quirky and versatile Datsun 410 and 411 series sedans and wagons laid the groundwork for the 510.

I went to RockAuto, entered the 1979 Volvo 144 ID and found the complete hard and soft part kit to rebuild these transmissions. There is also a soft parts only kit but these seemed to be on closeout. Also on this site was the same kits for the later 510 Muncie Indiana 510s. Remember Early British =No modulator. Later Muncie = with modulator. Let's get more automatic 411s on the road!

My complete kit is due in on 17 March [for future use].

Ordered parts have started arriving today! The pan gasket only kit is perfect! This was the major parts shortage when I had my periodic maintenance done. The Soft Parts transmission kit looks to be right on! When the hard and soft parts kit arrives I will post the manufacturer's name and adress and his part number so that we few old farts can bypass the middlemen who post close outs and deal with the manufacturer! They also have late Borg Warner kits for the 510 series Muncie Indiana transmissions!

The "hard parts kit" does NOT include the front and rear bands. Hopefully that means that they "are immortal" and never fail,

Mike, might you (or anyone else here) be interested in a freshly-rebuilt BW35?

I have one here that I spent [way too much] to have fully rebuilt, and soon thereafter, converted my 411 to manual.

It has a slightly higher stall-speed torque converter (new), new bands, and has less than 100 total miles on it since the build.

I'd let it go cheap to someone if it'll keep a 411 on the road - it's not doing me any good here in the shop.

I contacted the manufacturer of the complete parts kit [ATP] today regarding the lack of front and rear bands. The reply was that they no longer supply them because if there is any friction material still left on the original bands there is no need to change them. Order away and let's keep these automatic transmission equipped RL411s and early 510s on the road without having to rely on a tow truck!

Greg, hope someone takes you up on your kind offer! My original transmision is still humming along after 48 years and 160,000 miles so I bought these parts kits as a hedge for the next 50 years! By the way, you are invited to my 120th birthday party in 2057! I will pick you up at LAX in my RL411. Now to find a decent vintage of Champaign close to 2057.
