When in college I had a 1940

Straight Six Cylinder. The starter was a steel rod located above the gas pedal that you pressed with the toe of your foot and as the engine started you used the heel of your foot to give it a little gas.

The push button AM radio had a vibrator (Not that kind) that turned the 6 volts into AC to power the filiments and supply plate voltage for the tubes. It also had a heater and a 3 speed stick on the column.

Goodbye Pontiac.

It is too bad your management was so dumb and stupid

Also worked well at supplying ac for a black light.

I'm not surprised...in fact, I thought it should have happened years ago. They have very few cars that are not clones of GM makes...

I used to have a 97 Pontiac Firebird Formula. Definitely prefer the body style over the F-body cousin the camaro.

When I think Pontiac two come in mind. One was about a 49 or 50 with a lighted Indian head for a hood ornament.

The second was a drivers ed car at a neighboring school. Think what it may have been like to learn how to drive an original Judge as your first car. I remember driving one. It was first of all big on the outside, while seeming small on the inside. You had this gear shift that wasn't exactly the easiest one to manipulate. Now you had this clutch that you just about had to grab the bottom of the seat with a hand to allow you to stay in the seat in order to put enough pressure on the clutch to disengage it. Not sure who decided on using this for a drivers ed car but it was great fun to go to the school and watch the action in their parking lot.

While not easy to drive I found a Road Runner or a Charger with a Hurst pistol grip to be a much easier challenge.

I still love that lighted hood ornament on the old one. Think it would look good on a 'G' coupe.

No! Thinking about that POS brings back angry memories

My next vehicle was that 1940 Pontiac which was a fun vehicle with running boards.

While attending college with it, a group of walking students used to jump on and hang on to the running boards while I gave them a ride up a long hill. That was until I received a warning from the dean that it was dangerous & not to do that any more.

I once gave a ride to my math professor who was kind of hot as she was walking up the hill in heavy rain. I still remember her complaining about water dripping on her leg from the leaking windshield.
