Brief rattling noise when I gun the engine - 04 maxima

When I gun the engine I hear a brief rattling noise. It does not happen when I am in dirve and rev the engine. Any thoughts on what this may be?

Depends on the sound. Could be a heat sheild, could be timing chain. It's hard to say. Is there any sort of descriptive sound, sharp tinny rattle, deep low rattle, any indication where the sound is coming from?

sharp rattle that only occurs when the accelerator is depressed but not all the time. Sounds like it is coming from underneath the vehicle not from the engine compartment. Nothing seems loose underneath the car.

I would agree, it's your heat shield. There was a TSB out for these.

I got the same problem with my 02' I35, I was told that my engine was knocking cuz i used less then premium gas for a bit (gas prices were off the hook!!!). The noise only occurs. when my car is in drive...i don't hear it when im in park or neutral.
