I did some research on the internet and this is supposed to be the second best tire you can put on a J30, and they are relatively cheap too. Sam's club wants $96 each plus $15 each to install. Americas Tire, also known as Discount Tire, sell them for $91 each plus $15 for mounting, new valve stems, and lifetime balancing and tire rotation and flat fixing. I ordered two, but they came in three days late so they took another $10 each off the price without me even asking for it. They are directional tires, don't know if that's good or bad or machts nichts.Anyone else use these tires?

Michelin Pilot Exalto a/s is the number 1 rated tire in that class, and available for about the exact same dollar. Why settle for anything less?????

I would also price the Yokohama Avid's. Lots of positive reviews with the J's.

I have 4 Yokohama AVID TRZ on my J. It handles beautifully in city driving and amazingly quiet in highway driving. My only complaint is snow driving... our J needs snow tire, 4 season tires just don't cut it...

As fas as I know the Michelin Exalto is not made in size 215/60R15, which is what a J30T takes. They don't make it in size 225/50R17 either , which is the specified tire for a Q45T. So the only way you could use an Exalto would be to install an incorrect size.http://www.1010tires.com/tire....o+A/S

Also, the Exalto has an A traction rating while the Potenza RE960AS has an AA traction rating, and they both have A teperature rtings and both have 400 mileage ratings, so based just on those ratings the Potenza is a better tire. Its actually kind of hard to find tires with an AA traction rating and good mileage at the same time, maybe that is why the Potenza is so highly rated and gets such god reviews.

The problem with traction, wear, and heat ratings is they are selected by the manufacturer not any government testing organization.Same with wear index which is only measured up to 7200 miles THEN mathematically extrapolated to guess at what happens later.

Michelin has always been on the [most] conservative side to match their claims of extra durability and honesty. They use the strongest and most resilent materials which tend to cost a few dollars more and weigh less.

If you can afford them, or have to beg on the street for the supplemental cost..................34 years of driving on Michelin has proved their worth.

The J30 is pretty flexible in that a 215/60 or 65/15H or 225/60/15V will work well all around.................the loaded radius difference is not significant in fact the strength of the 225/60/15V will give longer tread life and shorter braking distances.

A tidbit is that the J30 brakes are the same diameter and thickness as the much heavier 90-01 Q45 so better tires yield great braking [not to mention a little better handling in emergency situations.

Check Tire RacK Tire Test and you will see that the Michelin stops from 50 mph in WET 4% [4 feet] shorter than 960 AS................and it only get better with age compared to Bstone.
