ok so after all my research between searching here and looking through the tire rack for so long i think i have limited it down to these two choices

from searching on here i really couldnt find anyone that had the avons on a 240, but quite a few people run them on their Q's...overall between here and the tirerack ive seen that basically people think highly of both tires, the potenzas being more worthy of a track tire ive noticed, a few people on tire rack said not to run these at an hpde or even auto-x because they arent very good for that situation and it causes them to wear extremely quickly, theyre more of a street tire with better remarks about comfort

the biggest appeal to me for these is the price, i could get the avons installed for probably around ~$515 - $535, whereas the potenzas would be like ~$590 - $610, depending on mounting and balancing costs

that $75 might prove to be key in getting parts later on, towards the suspension

i think if i got the avons id wait on starting auto-x for another summer and work on my suspension and a few things here and there this summer

so my main question i guess really is for a street driving situation, would the potenzas be a worlds difference or would i really not notice it until i got to the track? with the difference being i have enough stuff i need to do that the suspension might not even get started because i dont want to just do shocks and springs, i would need an alignment too, which requires certain parts like the rods and ends and camber plates, etc... plus bushings which im not sure what im doing there yet

i need to order the bridgestones by saturday to take advantage of that rebate, so if anyone could please help me one way or another before then id really appreciate it

thanks everyone!

Both seem to be good tires. I picked the M500 simply because I am thinking of trying them myself!

The Tirerack reviews for these two tires look good.

you probably saw the same thread in infiniti gen that i saw with people talking about them on the q...i was wondering if anyone had them on their 240

but it does sound like something to try

and as you said they are 1st and 3rd in their category, although id be interested to see when more miles reviewed come in how the avons do

I'll vote for the RE705s....you know those are the ones I'm running and I got a tag for the '40 yesterday so I went on a 1hr long joy ride. About the tires: There's a bit of road noise but I didn't have my radio on so that might have been why. They grip like leaches ie on ramps are my bishes. I'd like to give you a better performance review but don't think I can do that by driving on the street. I'm might be going to a racetrack sometime in May so I can give a better review. It's raining pretty good today so I'll let you know how the do in the wet. I love them so far. I actually considered teh Avons myself. I don't think you'll kick youself in the nuts if you go either way.

Love the Tech M500 on my Acura. Not Michelins, but a good tire at the price.
