Post

Hello all,

First off this is my first post on this forum so 'hello...'

I have owned a 2003 Nissan 350Z Track with pretty much every Nismo add-on possible, after about 55k miles I sold it for a SUV - big mistake - so I bought a 2006 350Z Touring 6MT. I have added the Nismo cat-back exhaust, K&N air filter, Plenum spacer, Underdrive pulleys, H&R lowering springs and Nismo/Rays forged aluminum 18" rims with 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) Bridgestone RE050A PP's. Overall I am happy with the car and I have 22k miles on this one. Pearl White with Black leather.

Here is a picture before I lowered it last year...http://www.redstarwebdesigns.c...e.jpg

Anyway, so I have a couple of questions... First off I have managed to get the RE050A PP's to last for 21k miles and now it's time to replace the rears and I have been using 35 P.S.I. on all four tires cold. Do any of you have experience with this tire? Can you confirm or deny the pressure I am using....also I was thinking about having the rims powdercoated black. What are the opinions on that? Last, I was thinking about maybe doing an autocross event or two in the Spring/Summer - how do I get involved in that?

Nice to meet you all...

-Brian

I use 35 psi also, work fine I have an uncle in the tire business and we called Bridgestone directly and they agreed on a performance car as the Z. I have only 7k miles but I tear this monkey up and down the road and it takes and asks for more. The engine doesnt start gettin happy till about 5700rom's.

how are the tires wearing? if they are wearing out the center faster than the edges then you are running too much air, if they are wearing out the outsides faster than the center then you need to run more air pressure, when autocrossing higher pressures tend to be required and can be dialed in using a pyrometer, the ideal is to get the surface temperature of the tire as equal as possible all the way across the tire when you come in from a run, and it's a lot more fun to autocross on R compound tires, once you start if you get hooked a spare set of wheels and r compound tires are one of the songle largest improvements you can make aside from the driver

Hey a fellow Ohioian. From what I hear they are great for grip, but wear out real fast. I inflate mine to 33psi, but 35 should be fine. The NSR car group is planning on going to a couple events this year. The first one some of us are doing is Carlisle for some Auto-x. If your interested in going with us send me an email.
