I have a 2004 G35 Coupe with the factory Brembo set up. Recently I got new pads and rotors which were professionally installed (not by the dealer) and ever since the install the brakes have been squeeling like crazy. Honestly the loudest brakes I’ve ever heard. Yes, I used the factory Brembo pads. So, I took my car to the Nissan dealer today yeah yeah the Nissan dealer. The dealership is close by and they really do have an amazing service crew. So, they check it out and my main concern was the noise and the amount of brake dust…that and I wanted to make sure that the shims were put back in. Now here is the tricky part. They checked out my brakes and there are no shims? They said they called Infiniti and they said that the G35 doesn’t have shims in their brakes but the 350Z does on the Brembo set up. So is this true? Does the G35 not have shims for their Brembo brakes yet the 350Z does? I thought it was the same break set up? So, for now I’m stuck with amazingly loud brakes…Need some help guys. I’m thinking the car is supposed to have shims but they were not put back in.

hey man, I am a tech for infiniti, the factory brembo front pads have the shims already on the pads, but they have arrows on the front pads so that they are installed in a certain direction......now as for the rear brembo pads, infiniti does use shims on the rear pads from the factory which should be swapped over when doing the rear brakes...so yes there are shims on the rear for a fact, hope this helps you out.

That’s what I was thinking. Thanks a lot I really appreciate it. I was a little under the impression that there was kind of a feud between the two dealers. Don’t think Infiniti was happy that Nissan was calling them saying they were working on an Infiniti. It’s the only Infiniti dealer around and they are pretty obnoxious hence me taking it to Nissan. Anyway, thanks I just needed the reassurance.

Installed a set of Wagner pads on my '03 G-35 (Bremo) all around and had the same issue occur. Luckily I had not tossed out the old pads yet, so I removed the shims and installed them on the back of the new pads - no squeal after that change.
