I'm going to get some Hawk HPS pads and some better rotors for my s13, but on the enjuku site it says i can get the slotted or crossdrilled ones or both, or just plain ones. which ones should i go with? i plan on this being a daily driver with spiritied driving once in a why, also why should i go with the ones you guys suggest, like pros/cons.

Thnx in advance

go with slotted, they are not actually 'cross-drilled' , they are just dimpled, which means that they are just little indentions to trap gases. they do NOTHING. and the combination of the two incredibly reduces that actual surface area the pad engages...which is BAD...you want the most surface area u can get, u just want a way to vent the gases. the dimpling effect given on the Brembo rotors does NOTHING. the only crossdrilling that actually helps is 2pc rotors/hats w/drilling that goes all the way through. Slotted doesnt make that much of a difference, but it makes enough. my buddy that owned a shop chooses brembo slotted for his turbo BMW m3 and its wat im going with on my brake setup.

I don't think outgassing of brake pads is a problem anymore these days. So the drilled or dimples are worthless. At least the dimples are better than the fully drilled by at least preserving some rotor mass. I wouldn't even go with the slotted rotors unless the car is being tracked where high brake temps are achieved. And even then I wouldn't give the slotted rotors a shot until heat problems become an issue with a standard vented rotor and air ducting is tried.

D1SR240,IMO I would just stick with OEM rotors and pads. If you get a track pad it might have a higher CofF but you'll never reach the temps at with that CofF occurs on the street. So you'll end up with a pad that has less "bite". It appears the HPS are street pads so they'll probably suit you well. I'd like to see some specs on them though. After a quick search all I could find was their optimal operating temp range 100-800F.Best overall solution, get better tires.

You will get more bang for the buck with better pads on the stock rotors. Unless you are going to autocross or worse, you would likely not see much of a difference using a slotted rotor. If it were a heavier vehicle that generates more heat, that would be another story.
