I'm debating between the Brembo or Akebono option for my 2003 M45. I will be doing both front and rears and had a few questions:
G35/350z Brembo
I understand that all four corners are a direct bolt-on with no modification or adapters needed. All I'd have to do is get Z32 to S14 conversion brake lines for the front and G35/350z rotors (someone from VSC even stated that Y34 rotors work for the rears). Please chime in if anyone thinks different. I haven't read anything specific about the rears, what brake lines will I need to make the Brembos work?
G37/370z Akebono
In order to run these calipers with the 14" rotors I'd need adapters. Even with adapters/brackets, I've read that some people had the need to shim the caliper so that the rotor is centered. Is there a company that makes adapters that don't require shimming? Least amount of pieces and variables the better I always say.
To provide a little more color, I'm upgrading because I hate the brakes on this car. Honestly I love the feel, but don't think they provide enough stopping power. As an added plus, I think the look of a BBK really adds to the car's appearance too. After doing some price searching, the calipers themselves seem to be pretty close in price (Brembo vs Akebono) if you look hard enough, hence the debate. Obviously going Akebono will be more expensive after factoring the price of brackets and rotors, but if it's not too far a part, I still like it as an option. Thanks, guys.
