2006 350 gt making low grade noise in front dealers says rotos and pads shot cost to replace rotors and pads $1385.00. I drive it easy no hard braking. dealers says he see's this alot even at 15000 miles He says warranty won't cover it because its a wear and tear item?

The OE Brembos tend to wear out pretty quickly. I replaced a set at about 17,000 miles when I had my G35. The rotors tend to be pretty soft so they are usually below the minimum thickness by the time the pads need replacement. Stillen and Stoptech make some nice 2-piece replacement rotors that are cheaper than factory rotors.

I'm approaching 20K miles on my '06 Z that I've had for approximately 1 year. The tires and brakes are still going strong and probably will be for another 3,000 - 5,000 miles. No complaints here.

Thanks for the tip. The dealer/service manager@Buena Park, Nissan/CA was very helpful. He agreed to turn the rotors and replace the brakes as "goodwill". It cost me $164.00 for labor. He said the warranty for brakes is 1 year/12,000mi. I will check on the Stillen replacement rotors. The tech said I cant turn these again.

Seems it worked out well this time. But in the future, don't let the dealership "rape" you on a brake change. I would have laughed in his face if he quoted me almost $1400. Why couldn't the tech turn rotors with 15K miles on them. Sounds like two people FOS @ that dealership.

Like i said before i have an 06 Z with about 15,000 miles on it and so far no break problems that i can tell. But i was just wondering when should i need to change my break pads and how can i tell when it is time without anything else like the calipers getting messed up?

Mine made a low grade noise when slowing kinda like tire noise. The reason my estimate was so high is because I have Brembo brakes and the dealer wanted to replace the rotors $400 each. You should have thm check your brakes next time you take it in for service. I will need to replace the rotors next time as they cannot be turned again. Ant ideas on where to get rotors for less than $400 each?

Front rotors 75ea Helluva lot cheaper than 400. 139 for front pads from them as well. About 1hr of your time to change the front brakes and you saved yourself about $1100. You could changed all 4 brakes out for new rotors/pads and save yourself $850 as opposed to messing around with the stearlership.

But i think you can put pictures of your car in that spot i just forget exactly how to do it, i think you go to my profile options and then go to images or whatever that area is called and then just upload a picture of your car off of your computer i think it can be any picture it just has to be under a certan size but im not really sure so you might wanna check with someone else if you get confused.

06 350Z just bought a new air filter and put it in. The old one seemed to have some sort of oil or lubrication on it? Am I supposed to apply anything to the new air filter?

you sure the old one wasnt reusable? normally oil means you can just hose it off, apply fresh oil, and throw it back in

i dont know z's well enough to know whether the stock one is reusable or not, though i cant imagine it would be

If you can pick out the right size socket and turn the ratchet, you will be done in a 1-2 hrs.

Don't pay that much for BRAKE SERVICE there are far better brake rotors and pads for lot cheaper and these are brand name ROTORS and PADSgo check out this web:

http://images.google.com/imgre...a%3DN

That page is directly linked to 2003-2007 TRACK 350Z BRAKES which are equipped with brembo brakes.
