My GT comes with Brembos on front and back, and every time I brake, the moment the car stops / goes, the brakes makes quite a audible noise.

I was told by Nissan Service, that this noise is due to the metallic pads that's used.

I don't fully believe in that.

Can somebody please explain / enlighten?

I've got Brembos and they don't make any noise at all.

Are you just describing the sound over the phone to them or you actually taken it in the to the shop and let them hear it for themselves?

my z's brembo's don't make the sound, but my friend's sti does. The z's in canada probably uses a different brake pad compound than the ones in the U.S.My friend fixed his problem by using hawk brake pads. Less noise less brake dust. Good luck!

Brake dust is another issue that I haven't talked about yet------stock Brembo makes tons of dust all overth wheels.

So I guess getting Hawk pads is the way to go?

I am not all that familiar with brake pads-----are there different sizes / shapes (types?).

I can't imagine that they are universal.

Any input would be appreciated!

If you're planning to purchase this in the store, they should be able to give you exact fitment for your car. Online is just as easy, it will ask you for your car's year, make, model, and trim.

Thanks for the info guys!

Are Hawk pads better than stock Brembo pads?

I want better stopping power, with acceptable level of noise and dust.

im not sure how you got in mind of runnin the car, daily driver or track, but id just go pick up a set of semi-metalic pads at autozone or advanced if you just got a daily driver (no complaints about the wearevers on mine).... no pad will give you better stopping power... just better fade resistance properties & wear / noise characteristics. and a smoother application of braking force

Racing Brake.com

Richie, you need to look there too. Plenty of alternatives to the OEM Brembo package for much less $.

Thats strange Glacier. My Z with stock Brembos made noise too--especially during low braking.

Googled around and it seemed the Nismo-R tune pads were highly recommended. So I picked these up along with the Brembo slotted rotors. Didn't go with the cross-drilled as they are prone to cracking.

Just had both fronts and rears installed a couple of days ago.

Until everything is broken in, I don't expect all of the noise to disappear right away. Whatever result can't be worse than what I was hearing on the stock brake setup.......
