Right now i have some warped autozone specials on the font of my 240sx. I have q45 brakes in the front and stock rears just to clarify. Now i found this guy on ebay who is really cool i spoke to him on the phone. He is willing to sell me 2 front q45 brembo blanks drilled/slotted by his machine shop along with 2 rotors for the rear same deal but for a 240sx. I talked him down to $200 shipped. Now here is my question. Will these things hold up better than my blank autozone specials. They warped in like 2months. How safe is it to drill/slot a quality rotor like the brembos. Is it worth a try. I like the bling factor of drilled/slotted rotors but dont have the bling to pay for them.Thanx

iRotors.com sells drilled/slotted Brembo and Bradi rotors. I got the Bradi ones for my 1995 Q45 and they worked well.

From what I understand, iRotors does their own drilling and slotting on blanks from Brembo and Bradi.

Hmmm ... I do not know ... "own" might be too strong. They are definitely related ... sister companies, if you will!

just get the brembos without any machining done on them. it will be much more likley to crack and will not perform as well. PS if you warped your rotors you should change your pads as well, that will lower your chance of warping another set of rotors.

I would really like to get something slotted/drilled just for the bling factor. If it doesn't perform well and is prone to cracking i guess that out weights the rice factor i mean bling factor:-) i'm looking for. What about if i get the brembo blanks and i just get them drilled or slotted not both. Which do you think would be the safer bet. Which one performs better? I like drilled.

Check your TCA bushings, that's why my rotors warped.

Also, don't get them drilled/slotted. The effect on brake fade is negligable, but they do have a far higher chance of cracking. The brembo blanks are already vented, which is a good compromise, and what brembo recommends.

Drilled rotors have a history of cracking under high heat. If you want to go for an upgrade, go slotted. Just keep in mind, that when they wear out, you can only replace them--not resurface. So that may not be economical.

new pads are a good idea, since the pads you have now have become altered by the warped rotors. New pads to new rotors will assure that they'll get seated/broke-in properly. I recommend ceramic pads: quiet, relatively dustless and much better bite than regular metallic pads.

i recommend brembo blanks as well.

ok i'll go with brembo blanks. does any of our spomnsors sell them for cheap? I found them for $208 shipped at importrp.com. That's front q45 blanks brembo and rear 240sx brembo blank. Also check out my other thread.http://nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=92914for help on what to do with the extra holes when i redrill the front rotors.

if you really want to do somthing with your breaks, have them slotted. it wont chew up your pads as fast as crossdrilling, and it dosent affect the integrity of the rotor near as much as drilling.

yeah, if anything get them slotted. definitly do not get them both slotted and drilled. you might be better off getting a set of brembo rotors that come slotted. the blanks are not intended to be slotted or drilled so by doing so you are just taking away mass, mass that should be used to dissipate heat, so you are really just hurting performance. a nice set of pads and steal lines with do more for brake fade.

additionally, in vented rotors like the ones you have on the front, there is a good way and a not so good way to cross drill them according to the vents, i would trust a company like irotors to know the difference but its worth thinking about.
