Recently i have torn down my engine due to a spun bearing and found thatmy Breather Seperator on the oil pump has been letting oil into my intakemanifold. So im guessing its not "seperating". Seems like a kind of PCV. Anyhow my question is can i block this off? There is a PCV already in the valve cover.Im afraid the boost has casued it to wear quickly and dont know if its worth buying another.I think i would rather get a new one but money is tight and dont want to waste my money.

thanks,~Sam

P.S. Where is the cheapest place to get a cometic head gasket and ARP hardware?

On the actual PCV valve, a hose runs from the nipple on the PCV valve to the intake manifold. Separate this hose from the nipple on the PCV valve and plug it. Remove and clean the PCV valve out with carb cleaner. Then re-install and run a hose from the PCV valve to a catch can. Run another hose from the catch can to the intake before the turbo. Make sure the hose running from the catch can to the intake is higher on the catch can than the PCV valve hose. It keeps oil from entering the intake. If you don't have strict emissions laws, you can even just leave the hose from the PCV valve open to atmosphere and put a breather filter on the valve cover. That is what I am doing as of now.

well im actually worried about oil consumption. I want to find a way to stop the breather from leaking i guess. I guess i just need to buy a new one, unless there is a way to repair the valve.~Sam

Hey KoukiKA240, I'm glad you brought this up. I actually plugged my ports to the runners as nissanfanatic mentioned and then routed my PCV to a catch can. It looks like more oil than what it really is. Not to mention at least you really know how much blow by you have by it going in the catch can. The stock configuration the oil is being burned up in the combustion chamber which we all know can cause detonation(the oil). If your rings are in good shape and sealing good you won't have to worry about oil consumption.

well its a newly built engine, and now since im goin back in for the spun bearing im also replacing the rings as well. I think im going to go ahead and buy a new breather seperator and run the catch tank just to see what kind of blow by im getting.~Sam
