Hey,

I have seen a couple members with "breather filters" rather than having the pipe go back into the intake.

Does that really make a difference?

no- i am not refering to a cone filter.

I am referring to a filter that is put on to i think its a PCV hose....

"A breather filter relieves your engine of positive crankcase pressure and recycled carbon vapors from your engine, which cause loss of throttle response due to build-up on the throttle body. The Breather helps resolve that problem, by venting the vapors into the atmosphere."

is what i got from a site taht was selling a breather filter- probably K&N

I cant see that doing anything.... Marketing hype.

However they are correct in saying that the deposits in the intake tract can lead to bad things, but you dont have to install a filter, you can clean the TB for free!
