I understand our transmission is good to 400HP.

Anybody ever break one? What about the drive shaft?

Nobody? I guess that's good. Anybody running over 400 on the stock line?

I'd say the transmission is good closer to 500 ft lbs of torque. Rick was eating up trannies IIRC, I just can't remember how much power he was putting down. Over 500 though.

also it depends on what kind of driving you are doing. simple track draging or light to light runs wont be as bad as drifting. I havent seen a drive shaft break before, but im sure its happened to somebody

you can honestly break it sooner than that depending on how much you shock the transmission.

ive seen someone break the output shaft off the line on a car making ~280 whp and 60 ft'ing in the 1.6 range.

ive seen them survive the launch and then fail after wheel hopping too much.

ive seen people break them on the street too.

but then again, ive seen them survive alot of abuse and never break with 400+whp and 1.5-1.7 60 fts...

so its hard to say exactly at what point it will break, it all depends on the driving style, type of tire used, track conditions, and how much previous abuse your drivetrain has been through.

as far as the axles go, they are generally pretty strong...Ivan's ran 9s with them on 1.3-1.5 60 fts. but then on the other side, Duy broke them running in the 8s and Ive even seen a few people break em running 11s and 12s somehow.

A good way to keep your drivetrain together is to stay on street tires.. Lack of traction will definitely help keep it together.
