I agree. The "widebody" look is just stupid. If you're going to "vent" from the front fenders, do it minimally and tastefully, a la C5/C6 Corvette or FD.

Hey, at least this one is glossy and lends to a wraparound greenhouse.I don't mind it, but I'd prefer it was body colored. To me, it throws the visual weight of the car off.
Jesda wrote:The rear is a big but muscular slab with big round tail lights, just like the C5 and C6 Corvettes.
I HATE that. It screams "Rubbermaid." At least the C6 and GT-R proto have black along the bottom to break it up. Also, fortunately, the GT-R's trunk lid seam cuts into it, breaking up the massive blank slab.
Jesda wrote:The roof? It makes the top of the car look like Pac Man. It does slope nicely to the rear, however.
As I've said before: Big C-pillars are BAD! Drive a murano or a new Maxima for a day and you'll know what I mean. Backing up and changing lanes is a beast, because you just can't see anything behind the rear windows on either side... And big c-pillars combined with low, sloping backlight are even worse. Yeah, it needs to look sporty, but I hate it when looks get in the way of function. They should do something like the new charger, with a sloping roof/backlight/c-pillars, but lower-profile "machine-gun-nest" windows. It lends a lot to the sleekness of the car, kills the pac-look, and lets you combine a clean roofline with good visibility.

Bare CF is just stupid. It is. It's like having bare sheet metal. Yeah...we know it's there. Whupty ****. I really dislike how far back the lenses continue on the upper fender surface. It's one of those "looks this way because it'll get recognized" design things. But--this car doesn't NEED that. It's one of the most anticipated cars of the modern era. It'd get noticed if it looked like a 1995 Ford Taurus. The headlights should be completely on the vertical surface of the fascia, helping to alleviate some of the emptiness that is now being filled in with idiot carbon fiber. Also, the front is a stark contrast to the rest of the car. The whole of the body flows down and back. But the front is over-vertical. It looks like it was taken from a completely different car.
My only other real gripe is that the wheels have one too many spokes. 5 or 6 spoke wheels are the most attractive, IMHO, especially with thick, convex spokes like these. Something like the new Z33 5-spokes would look excellent on this car. 7 spokes are just too busy. They belong on a luxury model like the G35, not on a sports car like the GT-R
