Ok, just got the car back from the shop. They replaced the front rotors and all pads. I remember reading something about properly breaking in the new pads and rotors. Is there a "preferred" method for doing this? I realize some folks will just say shut up, get in and drive, but I'd like to do it right if possible. Thanks TP

Do lots of 80-60 down to 30-25 mph sequential stops say no more than 60 seconds apart......each one willl raise the rotor temp by around 80F so to get to 750F.....................8 should be enough. The drive another 10 minutes at speed [without severe deceleration] to cool them down to 100F.

The reason you don't come to a full stop is you don't want an uneven hot spot to develop under the stopped pad.

Cool, thanks. That's pretty much what I had figured. I picked it up late last night and hit the freeway. Car had a lot of work done, and felt really good. I did a couple 70-30 medium pressure braking applications, but it wasn't really safe at the time. Believe it or not, there was still a ton of traffic at midnight and it was raining hard. No empty roads between San Francisco and San Jose anymore... Thanks! TP

Rotors usually include break-in instructions much like Q45tech recited, with perhaps a few preliminary gentle 45-20 mph decelerations before the high speed ones.
