After much anticipaiton, I finally took delivery of my new 2007 35 Coupe 6MT. From your experiences, whats best way to break in this engine. Have also read that I should change oil imediately. Let me know what I should do. I appreciate your advice in advance.

Thanks,

basic break-in.... don't drive same speed for any length of time first 500 miles. vary your rpm's on freeway, don't take it past 5800 for first 500 miles.change out oil after first 500 and your ready to rip it up....post some pic's and congrats on your new G!!!!

1. Change your oil and filter at 500 miles.

2. Then, change your oil and filter at 1500 miles.

3. After that, regularly change your oil and filter every 3750 miles (or less, if you want). Without fail on the mileage and/or 3 months go by!

4. Use Dino oil for sure for the first 7500 to 10k miles. Castrol GTX 5W-30, Chevron Supreme 5W-30 are both good oils for this, although almost any good oil is likely to do fine. You can vary the formulation to 10W-30 or 10W-40 weights depending on your location and temperature conditions and season of year, etc.

5. Consider changing to a good synthetic after the initial 10k miles. I use Mobil 1 0W-40 with happy results. But, contrary to some people, changing to a synthetic, albeit a good thing to do, is not mandatory so long as you do regular oil and filter changes.

6. By the way, use the OEM Nissan/Infiniti filter - some of the other after-market ones may not be up to snuff (an exception: the Mobil 1 filter). The OEM filter is inexpensive enough from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com - I get the filter and drain plug crush washer (always replace this at oil change!) from them, in six packs for a very nominal cost.
