Hello,

Purchased an '07 G35 6mt today. I went in to the dealer not expecting to purchase as I have had my eyes on the BMW Z4M, but I walked out with an Infiniti - quite happy too. Black/Black Prem pack...no nav, not a fan. Aero and REAR packages as well, but I think they come with the prem package.

Anyway, I asked the dealer about breaking the engine in and I was told the only thing not to do right away is use cruise control on long distances. Is this correct? Anything else I need to know?

Hopefully I'll post pics soon, but it looks like any other G35 heh. Not sure if I'll do any mods...more of a stock car guy myself, but perhaps a couple changes may be made. Suggestions?

Thanks!

I think the break in calls for not revving over 4000 RPM, and not to drive at a constant speed (hence no cruise control).

How many miles until it's broken in?

Welcome to NICO!!

NEED PICS

The reason he said to not use cruise control is because keeping the engine at 1 speed for long periods of time isn't good for breaking in an engine. The best advice is to vary your engine speed and keep the RPMs below 4k.

Change the dino oil after 1k miles; use a good synthetic oil (royal purple is what I use).

After you hit 2k, you should be able to drive normal.

It definately is hard to "drive nicely" LOL I have to say that I am doing a good job at it though. However, I did make the mistake of letting my dad take it for a drive. I didn't want to, but i got that look from him when I laughed after he said "ok lemme have the keys" LOL Thank god i went with him though, i was yelling "DAD SHIFT, SHIFT!!!! DON'T REDLINE IT!!!!" HAHA He didn't redline it but i still wasn't happy with how he was driving it, he was like a teenager again!
