Hi all ... new to these forums...

Just had a quick question for all the experts out there.... I have an Infiniti QX4 2001 and I noticed that anyday that is relaly really cold out like below freezing, my break warning indicator light comes on. Then after about 30 mins of driving and everything warms up it goes away...

Any ideas?

QX4's do weird things in the cold...but it has to be pretty darn cold. I'm @ Waterloo, and judging from your profile, it seems like you're in Toronto.

Few things you should know.

Below -25'C, a few things happen:

1) Your speedometer will get stuck. Or it will move VERY slowly...2) Keeping your 4WD in the auto setting will keep it locked in 4HI. Bad in dry...causes binding...so switch to 2WD if it's not icy/snowy out. This goes away after driving in a few minutes...you will see the center orange light go away.3) Your Check Brake light should NOT come on. Have you done a brake flush?...maybe you haven't and there's weird things going on? ? ?4) Your transmission will shift higher than usual (engines like being warm)5) Your windows can come down, but not back up!!!

Anyways...it's life in Ontario as i'm sure you know!

thanks for the welcome....

this is my second qx4 -- first was a 99

yah its weird cause only when it is well below zero like minus 10 or more do I have the check break warning light coming on. other then that there is never an issue...

But you recommend flushing the break lines? that sounds like a good idea actually...

is your brake fluid up to level? low level can trip the light.

yep fluid level is fine....

thats what I first thought myself when I saw it... but if it was a fluid level problem it would trip regardless of the weather...

I only have the warning light come on when I first start up the truck and the temp outside is below freezing. It lasts for about 30 mins then goes away, till the next cold morning...
