My brake light comes on randomly, better yet it just comes on for like half a second then quits. I dont know where to even begin on how to check if its something bad or just loose wiring. hell i wouldnt even know where to check wires at. any help would be appreciated. it doesnt seem to affect anything, just want to catch something before it turns bad possibly. There's a little switch that is pushed in when the break pedal iis up. When you push in teh pedal it opens the switch and turns on your brake lights.

It has probably come loose and now turns on with just the little bit of play in the pedal. It has two lock nuts on it, 12mm I think, just have a friend watch teh tail while you tighten it up and then test it.

You can actually calibrate it very well in this method. I have mine so it turns on with just a little bit of pressure on teh pedal.

That's what I'm saying... the switch might be so loose that it is open even when the pedal is all the way up.

If you tighten the switch, it will engage sooner, so it will turn off the break lights.

give it a shot

that brake light on the dash comes on for 2 reasons. either your ebrake is up or your fluid in your brake master cyl resivior is low. probably the latter. if the fluid is low look at your brakes and make sure your pads are not getting thin, may be time for a brake job. If all you brake pads are over 2 mm to sensors, look to see if you have any brake fluid leaks anywhere. The master cyl capacity is designed in such a way that when your brakes are getting close to being warn out the fluid level drops to the point it turns the light on. This is from normal fluid transfer to the calipers as they travel out in their bores. Then once you have a brake job done ,when the calipers are compressed back into the bores to allow room for the new pads the fluid tranfers back to the master cyl filling it back up.

my guess is the light tends to come on when going into a long turn or when accelerating from a stop. The sloshing of the fluid allows the light to come on.
