Break light fuse keeps popping

I noticed that my break lights didn't work, so i saw that the fuse was broken, so i replaced but that one popped too. There must be a short somewhere. What 's the problem here?

Ive got the same issue; I would hit the brakes, fuse would pop and the rear defroster light would come on when the brake pedal is pressed..

My Solution:

I disconnected the 3rd brake like, there is small harness connector type deal behind the rear passengerside panel. You might need to pop the back seat out real quick, then just gentley pull the panel off a little bit, not all the way its pretty easy to access, you should see it right there.. 2 wires, disconnect it.. solved my problem; I still need to figure out where the short is..

I had the same problem. i fixed it by finding where the wires were shorting out. I found that all the wires that come from the hatch to the inside of the car where cut. If you look were the hatch meets the top of the car there are two rubber boots, one on each side, that protect the wires. when i took off the boot i found that the wires cut cut all the way thur or starting to cut. I fixed all the wires and taped them up very well and put on a new boot and my problem was solved.hope this helps.mandoz85

I figured it was a short somewhere; I had checked the wires in the boot by the hatch before and never saw anything.. this time I peeled it way far back and found out what was causing it:



They were actually melted together not to mention brittle as hell..

I LOVE MY 3RD BRAKE LIGHT!#*&%*#&

I seriously haven't had one for almost 2 years. It is a good day indeed.
