break-in period violation

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I read the manual and it says for the first 1200 miles don't do a few things. One of them is not driving at the same speed for too long.

I am now at 800 miles and need to take it out for a long trip about 300 miles on highway. Anything to concern?

Same speed means setting the cruise control and leaving it there for hours. The engine has already been ran in at the factory. The break-in period is mainly for the transmission and differentials. So no worries, just drive.

Just make sure during the first 1200 miles you drive equal amount in reverse as you do going forward.

During my break-in period, I revved it higher and accelerated faster than they say in the manual. I couldn't help myself :) ... I wonder how much damage I did? I hope not too bad.

Take it on the trip but just vary your speed some. Should be fine.

^ +1 ... no worries, just vary your speed a little more in the future. Nothing magical happens at 1200 miles.
