I have 300zx cross drilled rotors and generic brake pads right now on my 98 240sx that get dust all over my rims after only a short while. When I drive 60mph the whole front of my car shakes violently. Also, when I brake at high speeds my car shakes pretty badly in the front.

Does this mean my rotors are warped or does this mean my tires were not balanced correctly? How do I tell if my rotors are warped?

How do I tell if I have 26mm rotors or 30mm rotors? I bought my kouki with the conversion already done.

If I need new rotors can you suggest a few good brands? I used to have brembos with axxis brake pads on my old 95 240sx that didn't have a z32 conversion. That set up worked pretty well.

thanks for your help!

Wheel balance and alignment could be off. Try that, but were the pads and rotors new? If so they should be ok. You could pull the rotors and get them checked and cut if needed.

To see if your rotors are warped, you'll need a run out gauge. Not readily or cheaply acquired. Measure the in slot between the pads in the caliper to see if your calipers take 26mm or 30 mm calipres. Next check the thickness of your rotors. Use a dial caliper to do this measurement. $6 for a cheap one from sears.

If the shaking is happening when you break, most probably warped rotors.

If you're going in, do new rotors and pads and start off fresh.

Rotate rear tires to the front to see if it improves the shaking (if you want to see if the rims/tires are causing the problem)

I took my car to get aligned, but I'm not sure if the rotors are new or not.

Does anyone know of any good brands for brakes?
