A recent issue of Consumer Reports states that the Versa without the antilock brakes has the longest stopping ability than any new car rated out there? Have any of you experienced this?

I read the same from CR... it gave me pause before buying the Versa. But in the end I went with the Versa 4AT without ABS..... so far I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with the braking compared to other cars I've driven.....

Brakes leave a lot to be desired. I've had 2 panic stops so far. LOOOONG CROOOKED stops.

How, exactly?

Or did you replace wheels/tires at the same time?

Constantly dragging the ground reduces braking distances. Just kidding.

ABS can affect stopping distance, but not always. I've heard of a few people who had emergency stops in the V, and were just fine. Others have complained about losing or almost losing control of their car. I wouldn't be surprised if the stopping distance sucks without ABS because of the sucky tires.

I've had a few panic stops and i just flew threw the red lights and stop signs. after the panic stop the cvt feels like it got stuck in a high gear.it goes away after i get back up to around 35 mph.it feels asif the trans was slipping.this happened to me every time i did a panic stop.if i dont lock up the brakes......the car stops on a dime!
