there is no shoes in the back, as it has drum brakes. They might of just worked on the front then.LibbiPeach wrote:yes, shoes, is what was on the "receipt" from the dealership .. so i too am assuming it is the rear brakes..
Yeah I knew that, brain cramp seems it got the better of me.morgan wrote:Shoes are to Drums as Pads are to Rotors. FYI, no disrespect intended.
No they should not wear out in 12K unless they have been abused (driving with parking brake on, etc..) or there has been mechanical failure or environmentally induced failure, such as seized parts or improper adjustment for what ever reason.
Personally at 42K, squeaky and dusty with very little wear.
I've been experiencing my back brakes squealing too when I put it in reverse. But when I drive, it doesn't do that either. May have to get mine checked out, they shouldn't wear out that quickly at less than 15k miles.LibbiPeach wrote:yes, and mine are still squeaking .. and I'm not happy about it either. I've heard it said that it is becuz the pads are metallic and that this is to be expected, but i dunno.
I use to have the same issue on my civic when it was parked a bit longer or when I washed it but it never caused any mechanical issues for me besides the noise. The versa on the other hand does not though.iluvmyVersa08 wrote:I have heard a squeak from time to time. However it is usually only after my V has been parked for a couple days and when I first leave the driveway and apply the brakes I hear a small squeak, but no griding. I don't think I have any problems with mine. However if I hear the grinding noise I'll be sure to take her in and tell them about all of you that have had to have the 'shoes' replaced, lol.
you could try putting the anti squeaking paste on them, not sure if that is done from factory. This applies only to disc brakes though.LibbiPeach wrote:yes, and mine are still squeaking .. and I'm not happy about it either.
