brakes
brakes
Brakes are squeaking very badly and it is only sometimes. Than they will stop. Took it to the dealership and they priced it at around 400.00. They say that the back brakes need replacing. There is a wom wom sound when driving as though something is either rubbing or there is a bad tire. Just got the car its 30,000 miles servicing. Can i get some advice please. Shaun Marie.

Does the "wom wom" sound also give you a vibration through the car like it feels off-balance?

from working at dealer..ur tires are probably cupped from bad alignment or not rotating ur tires when it needs to be..as far as brakes ur versa comes with rear drums so i doubt those shoes already need replaced at 30K. u mostly use ur front brakes..try this..when u come to a stop let go of ur steering wheel while ur braking slowly to see if ur steering wheel stutters..if it does u need to get ur rotors resurfaced. as far as the pads..unless u drive and brake aggressively ur pads SHOULD still have bout 5-6mm left...thats still a lot of pad..if its at 2-3mm..replaced them.shaunbe wrote:Brakes are squeaking very badly and it is only sometimes. as far as it squeaking once in awhile..when does it squeak> when u come to a stop..? or jz random moments?for 400.00 thats a lot of SH*T they are charging you..did they price u up on some tires or just brake job+labor?

well the thing is that i get the tires rotated and balanced when need be. I have taken very good care of this car. So i do not think it is from that. The squeaking comes only when i brake. It is intermittant though. They do not always squeak..

noo. no vibration. just sounds like metal on metal squeaking.

yeah i'd say. they only squeak after it has been drivin for awhile. they do not squeak until after a bit of breaking.
