WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

Anyway, I'd say Hawk pads:HB268N.665 - Disc Brake Pad; HP Plus w/0.665 Thickness; Front; HB268F.665 - Disc Brake Pad; HPS Performance Street w/0.665 Thickness; Front; HB268Z.665 - Disc Brake Pad; Performance Ceramic w/0.665 Thickness; Front;

The HP Plus or HPS should be good enough. And you'll need to have a tool to press the piston back into the caliper, then put pads in and slide back over the rotor.

"I'M NOT SHOUTING!! ALRIGHT I AM! I'M SHOUTING! I'M SHOUTING! I'M SHOUTING!" (<-quote from the movie Clue).

Just FYI...all caps in forums equals shouting.

Anyhoo, I normally get my brake pads/shoes from Auto Zone. Duralast. Lifetime warranty. You can't compress the rotors...you turn the rotors. You compress the calipers...and yes..most of the time you have to but as long as you have a C-clamp it's no biggie.

I would recommend turning the rotors if you can find a shop that you can take them to to have it done. They are becoming more and more rare these days. Auto Zone used to do it back in the '90s but they stopped for some reason.

All have lifetime warranty. So if you're going to keep your V for a long time. The next time you need to change your brakes. Just bring in the old pads and you get 2 new ones for free! They keep your information in their system so you don't have to keep the receipt.

Duralast Gold - $49.99 AutoZone Part Number: DG1345Duralast - $34.99 AutoZone Part Number: D1345

Are the brakes a warranty item? If so I'd just take it to the dealer.

That's not what I meant. Let me add.

If you change them yourself and then something related fails, will they make you pay for it because you didn't take it to the dealer?

ex. You change the pads, then later you can't stop and crash/hit something.

I thought you meant if he just went there and asked for new pads, would they be under warranty. Misunderstanding.

If the pads are just worn out they are not going to give you new pads for free.If the pad has cracked or has a chunk missing out of it and can"t perform correctly then they will give you some new ones. Brake pads are suppose to wear down over time, that is not covered under the lifetime warranty.

Brakes ARE covered under warranty. I just had warranty brake work done. I noticed that my brake pedal pulsates during braking and knew right away that one or both rotors were warped. I took it to the dealership and TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM, not get them to check it out and since they know me and that I am QUALIFIED AUTO TECH they took the rotors off, measured them with a brake micrometer and sure enough it was warped. They cut the rotors for me and installed them and I went on my way with no problems since. And as WEEMS84 already said, if the linings seperate from the friction material before the stated warranty, you get new ones.

Mightyversa is right, As for warranty coverage, brake pedal pulsation under a certain mileage *MAY BE* covered under warranty. This is due to warped rotors, which shouldn't happen until the car hits 30-40,000 miles (which wouldn't be covered).

Brake pads at the dealer are about $65-$70, rotors (for both) are nearly $300.

If you have never done brakes before, buy a Haynes manual for a comparable Nissan product (Sentra is close enough) or a Versa if you can find one. Read the entire brake section before you do ANYTHING. Brakes are easy, but if you don't even know what a C-Clamp is, perhaps you should leave it to the professionals, eh? I say this because the job also requires you to understand proper bolt torque, PROPER use of cleaning chemicals (Brake cleaner), correct placement of pad retainers (this can be tricky on some cars), amongst other things. Why risk your life and others because you want to save a buck?

I ended up getting brand new performance rotors and Axxis Brake Pads... The braking (or lack thereof) suddenly becomes really tight and actually cuts of a huge stopping distance since our stock pads and rotors are...

.... hmmm.... presumably made by small Asian children with chisels and stone

As far as brake replacement under warranty: I just bought mine with the Gold Premium Preferred Warranty with the free oil changes and brake pads. This is the only way where they will do it for free. If you didn't upgrade your warranty you will have to pay for them. (if it's just a normal brake job)

(I know it's only relevant to the warranty comment above, but just in case he might have the coverage. )
