im doing a brake job on my 89 240 and i can't get the pistons on the back calipers to retract. i have tried spinning the pistons and usuing c clamps. i also have open the brake system up and there is little to no fluid in it. has anyone else had any problems like this?

I never had a problem with them not going back in. They may be frozen tho. All I know for sure is that they twist in, they don't push in like the fronts.

i think they're frozen too but are they BOTH stuck. check if the boot around the piston is ripped. that would be a sign that debris got in there to jam it up. did you have the square adapter needed to properly turn in the piston? it takes a lot of turns and you have to push in pretty hard as you turn. do they turn at all?

they do turn. I just didn't see them going in that much at all. I was just using a pretty big wrench to spin them. they spun easy, i'm just going to try spinning them a lot more and pushing a lot harder on the pistons.

you're talking bout the rear brakes right? Cause the front just need to be pushed back in. This may be a stupid question but did you leave your e-brakes on??
