I purchased my G37S used with 20k miles. I am not at about 75k, driving mostly highways. I have never replaced my brake pads. They now sometimes make noises when braking while backing up or when braking 'softly' (when bringing the car to a slow stop in slow traffic). I suspect the brake pads need to be replaced. However, when I had my oil change they did an inspection (not Infiniti) and supposedly also checked the brake pads. They checked out fine and I even specifically asked them about it. I suspect they were dishonest, didn't check the pads and the pads are actually thin (I am actually surprised they lasted that long).

If I need to replace them, do you have any particular suggestions?

The oem BRAKE pads are fine unless you do track days and such. Go with them They are Akebobos by the way so you can get them cheaper from Tire Rack than from the dealer.

Ah, I guess I really need a brake from work... I wish my company would give me some brakes to install the breaks on my car.

Anyways, my rear brake pads are down to 3/32 after almost 80k miles. I really liked the brakes on my 37S (they felt very precise while the brakes on a Porsche Carrera and Mercedes 430 feel very stiff/inaccurate).

In any case, can you give some recommendations regarding brake pads? I am thinking of 905's for the rear and 888's for the front.

I have done quite a bit of work on my cars but always avoided brake jobs as those are the most important parts in a vehicle. I don't like spending $500+ on replacing brake pads and resurfacing, though. So if I can buy pad on Amazon an install them securely then I am all for it.

MotorvateDIY, thanks for this post. I was going to bring my car to a shop and have an expert doing this as the brakes are the most important part in a car. Checking out this video, it indeed seems quite easy (expect for the fact that currently I don't have a good way to lift the whole car). I ordered the brake pads today and it should save me a few hundreds of dollars :O :)

I thought I purchased the ASP (Performance) but received the ACT. Looking at pictures it seems the shape and size of the ASP1346 is the same as the ACT1346 and so are the 1347. Are the ASP and ACT indeed interchangeable? Which one does Infinity use on the G37S?

My brakes squealing even with new brake pads. I brought it to the dealer. They said rotor or brake pads just dirty. They cleaned it, and it went away for awhile and squealing sound cameback. It is embarrassing sometimes. :)
